Winter link up project

Thank you for your lovely kind words yesterday and understanding.

I'm asking for forgiveness too as these are last months photographs. My camera is hiding somewhere and I hope to find it soon.

My hat is a little further on. Really I just need an evening free to finish it but I've misplaced the pattern and I have some swap gifts to finish off first.

I have pieced together the blocks for my epp quilt. The above box is actually Septembers. I managed to glue Octobers box and sort each block into little bags this morning. That will keep me busy next week. I'm actually off next week and Mike is too. Christmas shopping it is then!

I really need to find that camera, I've ran out of wool for my granny square blanket. For now you will have to imagine a huge granny square. I have used about 12 colours and doubled up the rows apart from two colours which are just a single row. I have followed this for three repeats and only have about eleven rows left. I shall place an order for the colours I'm running out of. I've really enjoyed making this blanket, so so simple, squishy and warm. I promise to put a proper photo up next month.

Apart from several wips and swap projects that's me!

  1. Jo please be kind to yourself - no need to apologise just take each day as it comes. Would not do if we were all the same and we all grieve differently. I have UFOs too where I have mislaid the pattern or the instructions. When I nursed mum 24/7 last year in Hospital I had my crochet with me - it kept me sane and able to focus and deal with what was happening. Crochet blankets are so comforting and snuggly. I am stocking up with colours so that when I have my foot op I can keep myself occupied. Also a load of cross stitch, needlepoint and embroidery as well as patchwork. So am hoping to get some of my UFOS done then. Like the look of you patchwork. Take care and hugs. Pattypanxx

  6. Hi Jo, I've only just got round to catching up on blog reading.
I'm so sorry to hear about your mum, I do hope that you can find some happy memories when you think of your parents. I think that generation just had to get on and put up with things, then often the result is bitterness and spitefulness, I know my mum often comes across as miserable and bitter and sometimes nasty but i know it's mostly because she had nothing in the early days of her marriage and she still holds grudges against my dad although he died almost 29 years ago! but she has time to sit and ponder now.

Enjoy your week off, sounds like you need it to re-charge your batteries. I hope you manage to get your Christmas shopping done, i've made a start on mine and hope to get it all out of the way by the end of the month (I say this every year, lol).
Looking forward to seeing your blanket, hope you find your camera soon, i'd be totally lost without mine!
    Take care xx

  14. Thank you for joining in with my link party, Jo. I'm really looking forward to seeing more of your projects. I love the bright citrus colors of the yarn you've chosen for your blanket. I've been trying to catch up with blogs this morning and I see now that your mother passed away. I'm so sorry. I understand how you're feeling right now. My parents are still alive, but they are very similar to how you've described your parents. I had a very unhappy upbringing and until I learned to work through it and the way they continued to treat me, my early years of adulthood and parenthood were very difficult as well. They are never going to change, and unlike your parents, have also turned out to be disinterested grandparents as well. I'm sure they do care, somewhere inside, but their own problems and attitudes are firmly in the way of them treating anyone well. It's sad and unfortunate for me and my children, not to mention my husband who has been unfailingly kind and generous to them since the day they met him, but it is what it is, as they say. I've learned to live my life fully without a need for their approval or attention and I'm teaching my children the same. We have each other and that is what really matters. Sorry to go off on a tangent, I just wanted you to know that I completely understand how you're feeling because my own situation is so fraught. If you ever want to talk about it privately, please feel free to email me. I hope you're feeling a little better now that some time has passed and that things will only look up from here.
